UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education Announces $50,000 Award

The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education calls for nominations. This award recognizes outstanding innovation and contributions made by individuals, institutions and organizations to promote girls’ and women’s education

Each of two winners will receive a prize of USD 50,000 funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Governments of all Member States as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO can nominate up to three individuals, institutions or organizations. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Eligibility
-projects/programmes must have been running for at least two years;
-projects/programmes have the potential to be replicable, expansible;
-projects/programmes that can provide significant learning potential for other initiatives;
-projects/programmes must contribute to one or more of the five priority areas of the prize.

The jury of five international experts will select two laureates based on their potential for impact, innovation and sustainability.

Important dates
The deadline for nomination: 19 May 2017 (midnight, Paris time).
Announcement of winners: September 2017.
