The Great-Man Made River International Water Prize for "Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas" presented by UNESCO: call for nominations

The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya has proposed and sponsored the establishment of the Great-Man Made River International Water Prize for "Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas" presented by UNESCO. The Director General of UNESCO, Mr Koichiro Matsuura, therefore has the honour of inviting your government to submit nominations for this Prize.

The deadline for submission of nomination forms is 31 July 2007.

The Prize will be awarded by the Director-General of UNESCO by November 10th, 2007 and comprises a certificate, a medal and a financial award.

The Prize recognizes the achievements of an individual, a group of individuals or a research institution having made fundamental and substantial contributions to the assessment, development, management and/or use of water resources in arid and semi-arid areas.
