Eurasian Economic Integration Community Education Committee Meeting (EurAsEC)

On October 6, 2011 the 20-th meeting of the Eurasian Economic Integration Community Education Committee (EurAsEC) was held in Astana. At the meeting the issues of quality education, national models of teaching, cooperation in the field of education and attestation of personnel were under discussion and consideration.

The Ministers of Education from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the meeting.

Cooperation with UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office was on the agenda of the meeting. The Director of UNESCO Almaty Office Mr. S.Lazarev made a presentation on UNESCO educational priorities in Central Asia, implementation of the range of the projects on capacity development in education policy planning, management and monitoring, perspectives for UNESCO cooperation with EARASEC member states in 2012-2013.

He stressed that support to the system of education, considering challenges and problems of sustainable development, culture of peace and non-violence are the main UNESCO strategic priorities. With this regard UNESCO Almaty in cooperation with international partners put forward the proposal to conduct the forum on post conflict education “Learning to Live Together” (Kyrgyzstan, July, 2012).

Minister of the EURASEC member states fully supported UNESCO’s proposal to conduct the forum on post conflict education and decided to consolidate it with the next meeting of the Eurasian Economic Integration Community Education Committee Meeting. Participation ministers in the forum will promote the implementation of joint initiatives and events for the achievement quality education for all.
